As winter draws closer and the holiday season beckons, get into the mood with this month’s offering of luxurious colors for you and your family to enjoy throughout the celebratory season.

PROBLEM: Brush Marks

CAUSE: Slight ridges in dry paint film are often due to poor quality applicators. If the polyester or nylon filament of a brush is not finished properly it will leave marks. Other causes include the surface being too porous and absorbing too much coating, not maintaining a wet edge, excessive brushing, or applying too little paint.

SOLUTION: Always use top quality applicators. Brushes should contain tapered bristles properly flagged and tipped.

You should smooth the surface by sanding before repainting or the brush marks will show through the new coat. If the surface is porous a primer should be applied.

Maintain a wet edge by ensuring that the last brush of paint does not dry before you overlap it with the next.

To make sure improper brushing is not the cause, ask your dealer to demonstrate correct brushing techniques!
